                       BOATING
.
Sailboats, fishing boats, ski boats, houseboats, and personal water- craft all share the lakes' 290 square miles.  Boaters can reach many scenic areas that are inaccessible to those traveling by car. Numerous secluded coves formed by fingers of the desert jutting out into the water are bordered by sandy beaches where you can picnic or camp. The beaches are particularly popular camping spots during the hotter months.
.
Nine concession-operated marinas along Lake Mead offer a full range of boating services and supplies year-round.  Free public launching ramps and parking areas are located at each area.  Parking is limited to seven days per stay.  Most marinas have boat rentals, fuel, general store merchandise, restaurants or snack bars, dry storage, and slip rentals.   Willow Beach has limited services.
.
BOAT  RENTALS
.
Boat rentals range from personal watercraft at several locations to 16-foot fishing boats, 18-foot runabouts for waterskiing and exploring, 24-foot patio boats, and houseboats that sleep up to 12 people.
.
Advance reservations are advised.  Because of the growing popularity of houseboats, reservations for these should be made at least 6 months in advance.

BOAT TOURS:  Boat tours of Lake Mead are available through LAKE MEAD CRUISES.  The Desert Princess, an authentic 300 passenger paddlewheeler, travels across Boulder Basin past colorful Fortification Hill and into Black Canyon for a spectacular look at Hoover Dam from the lake side.
.
Tours leave from both its home port, Lake Mead Cruises Landing, 3-1/2 miles west of the Lake Mead Visitor Center on Lakeshore Road, and from Hoover Dam, four times daily as it makes a 1-1/2 hour tour across the Boulder Basin.
.
Breakfast, dinner and sunset cruises are also available.  For exact times, information, reservations and charter cruises, call (702) 293-6180.
.
RAFT TOURS:  For a completely different type of experience, join BLACK CANYON / WILLOW BEACH RIVER ADVENTURES for a float trip down the Colorado River section of Lake Mohave.   Call (702) 294-1414  or (800) 455-3490 or internet:  http://www.blackcanyonadventures.com
